Alphonso Sanders Alphonso Sanders - Dr. Alphonso Sanders is Chair of Fine Arts and Director of the BB King Recording Studio at Mississippi Valley State University. Alphonso has performed at many international music festivals. He performed with David Lee Durham at the Lucerne Blues Festival, Lucerne Switzerland and was on the Durham’s CD Struggling and Straining- the first CD for the B.B. King Recording Studio. Alphonso has performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Den Hague, Netherlands; and the Montreux Jazz Festival, Montreux, Switzerland. He performed at the 1996 Summer Olympic entertainment festivities at Central Park, Atlanta, GA. He has performed at most of the major Mississippi Blues Festivals. He also puts on educational workshops throughout the US. He is director of the B.B. King International Blues Education workshop at Mississippi Valley State University. Alphonso’s CD “Mississippi Influences” is available on CD Baby. Alphonso performs solo, duo, and with his band. As a Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Sanders studied abroad in China visiting 12 major cities, exploring the culture of Chinese music and visual arts. |
